THE PASSION BEHIND THE BRAND Kate Kuba Managing Director Costas Costantinou reveals how his footwear fetish has inspired him to create the brand
“My destiny was carved out before I was born. In 1981, my mother opened our first footwear store, Georgina’s in Oakwood, north London. In my teens, I would bunk off school to work in the shop – I couldn’t get enough of it. I had to have my fix.”
When Cos got engaged to his wife Kate in 1992, they recognized that there was a gap in the footwear market to fill - Stylish, sophisticated women aged 25-40 were not being adequately served in the high street by the premium footwear market. Kate always complained that she had to go into the West End to find beautiful fashionable shoes – so with this in mind the first Kate Kuba store was born in Muswell Hill.
Combining Kate’s name with a misspelled favorite holiday destination, the fledgling Kate Kuba was born. Since then, the business has grown and evolved into the high street presence it is today. Four times winners of Draper’s ‘Best Women Footwear Retailer’ and ‘Best Overall Retailer’ 2005, Kate Kuba has now eight stores in prime London locations and one in Liverpool, with an enviable brand position and press profile.
The brand ethos is to sell unquestionable style as well as beautiful shoes. Kate Kuba combines elegance and exclusivity in trendy lines and sexy, fashionable details.
Acclaimed by fashionistas across the UK press corps, Kate Kuba is one of the most desirable brands in footwear.
“I am very proud of what Kate Kuba and I have built – but most importantly, I love the business. Welcome to Kate Kuba - the destination for exquisite footwear”.
